Vincent Van Gogh has been a huge influence and motivator for my painting career, and when I painted this self-portrait, it had to be recorded as a homage. I was painting outside in the country at this time, and had a battered old straw hat, just like he did! This painting features on the back of my new book of poems, ‘The Leaving’, published by Flying Islands Pocket Books.
