Welcome to Brian Purcell’s website. Brian is a painter and poet living in Bellingen on the mid-north coast of NSW, Australia; many of his paintings are steeped in the local landscape. For ten years he was the singer and lyricist for the rock band Distant Locust. Now he is working as an exhibiting painter and writer. He has twice been a finalist in the Bluethumb Art Prize and is a featured painter on their site. He has two new books of poetry out in Jan. 2025: Filmworks, and as editor 100 Poets. His earlier book, The Leaving, was released in 2022, and all titles are published by Flying Islands Inc. Enjoy the site!
